SmartSENNA – Portable device for Detection of Hazardous Materials


SmartSENNA is a non-destructive tool for fast on-site detection of concealed hazardous substances: explosives, chemical agents, etc. The device is based on Nanosecond Neutron Analysis / Associated Particles Technique (NNA/APT).

Components

  • ING-27 neutron generator (does not emit radiation when switched off);
  • Two detectors of γ-rays based on ∅3”∅3” BGO or ∅3”∅3” LaBr3 crystals;
  • Power supplies, data acquisition system
All components are inside a one case on wheels.
Single composite cable for power and data transfer.
Operation is controlled from a remote computer using specially developed software NNASoft.

  • Automatic data analysis and decision-making

3D visualization of:

  • Threat localization inside the inspected object
  • Chemical elements distribution inside the inspected object

SmartSENNA can estimate the mass of the found concealed substance.

Applications

SmartSENNA is capable of detecting:

  1. Security "first responders" (uncovered UXO, unattended luggage…;
  2. Deminers (identification of "anomalies");
  3. Chemical weapons demilitarization experts (identification, inspection…);
  4. Customs officers (manifest verification, drugs…);
  5. Airport cargo and luggage inspection.
